Eczema and food intolerance

Being healthy and feeling good has always been my desire.

When I had stomach aches, bloating, and acne on my face and back in my teenage years, I thought it was so in order. The tip of the iceberg was eczema on the inside of my elbows, which triggered an avalanche of tests - from colonoscopy to gynecology, endocrinology to skin exams. The result was non-specific inflammation in the lining of the colon and recommended treatment with pills. At the same time, I was diagnosed with a strong intolerance to lactose - a milk sugar - in my blood and was put on corticosteroid treatment. I took this for almost 5 years before I decided to try without it. But the eczema came back and with even greater intensity despite the fact that I did not consume any dairy products. This led me to investigate further.

I decided to visit an alternative medicine centre, where a kind therapist explained to me the connection between eczema and diet.

It was then that I first learned about the food intolerance test for over 200 foods and the elimination diet, which I was not supposed to start until after I was tested.

I admit that I was initially put off by the price of this one for the test, but on the other hand, there was a small light of hope that kept glowing inside me that maybe this would help me move on from the place.

After a month full of deliberation, I decided to take the test. To my surprise, the test detected up to 32 food intolerances, such as cow, sheep, goat, milk, casein, egg white, egg yolk, gliadin, wheat, barley, rice, potatoes, many nuts and even oranges.

I decided to try an elimination diet and after less than two months my eczema completely disappeared. My personal experience with food intolerance was proof enough to me of how much diet can affect our bodies. And this is why I decided to get involved in nutrition and help others find a new way of eating with food intolerances. Because the experience is more meaningful if we share it with others.
